What Is The Procedure To Remove An Underground Storage Tank?
When it comes time to remove your home or commercial property’s underground storage tank, Pierson Environmental Services Co., Inc. strives to make your tank removal effortless and stress-free for you and your family.
We will complete all applications for the necessary permits – from the local building or health department applicable to your town’s permit. Pierson Environmental Services Co., Inc. will request a mark out for all utilities located on the property.
Arrangements will be also made with all the appropriate inspectors to be on site to inspect the tank, and excavation.
The UST is then excavated using either a backhoe or excavator. In some cases the UST will be uncovered by hand digging the area. The remaining oil and sludge is pumped out of the tank and transported to a disposal facility.
An opening will then be cut in to the tank to allow a member of our crew to enter the tank to scrape, vacuum out and completely clean the UST. After the tank is cleaned, the excavator will remove the tank from the excavation.
The township and/or local inspector will then inspect the tank to confirm proper cleaning. Pierson Environmental Services Co., Inc. will dispose of the tank at an approved recycling facility.
The excavation will be filled to original grade using certified clean fill material and all native soil that was excavated in order to remove the tank. Lastly, the site will then be graded and seeded.
